New CD 'Gaia's Garden'
My new CD 'Gaia's Garden' has been released by New Earth Records (as a download) and will soon be available as a CD. As a taster you can watch the introductory video. The music plays to illustrations of some of the beautiful creatures that have been wiped from the face of the Earth by mankind's actions. There is a message of hope too for some of the creatures shown that are not yet extinct but are critically endangered. They are in our hands.

The CD features performances some of my greatest musical friends; Karunesh, Govi, Yair Dalal, Manish Vyas, Anand Richa and many more. My gratitude to them!
Chinmaya Dunster was born in Kent, England in 1954. After attending Art College, he travelled through Afghanistan to India. There he heard a performance by the world-famous sarodist Amjad Ali Khan and instantly fell in love with the sarod (a nineteen-stringed, banjo-like Indian classical instrument.)
Three years later, while teaching art at a school in London, he became a student of Amjad Ali Khan’s leading disciple. Chinmaya dedicated the next thirteen years to the study of Indian classical music on the sarod, both in London and at the Osho Commune in Pune, India.
Since 1990 Chinmaya has released 13 CDs on New Earth Records and Malimba Records. In 2002 Sir Paul McCartney invited him to perform at his wedding in Ireland.
Chinmaya is currently working on awareness raising films about Environmental / Social justice issuers in India from his home in Goa.

Chinmaya shares two pieces of his creative writing and illustrations. Read Dragony, a fable about dragons and meditation and also Bhagwan, Bangla, Bhalobas which are extracts from a humour-filled diary written in West Bengal in the 1980's.
Ragas Relax is now also available on Times Music in India. On this CD Chinmaya explores five traditional Ragas in an "alaap" form – pure, directionless wanderings within the ragas structure but without the distractions of rhythm or fixed melody. With the simplicity of the compositions he has successfully created an intimate, open and fluid soundscape for the listener to relax into. Specifically suited for restorative yoga, relaxation, meditation, wellness practices and the healing arts. Read more...
